Riva Granda.

Riva Granda – Family Prosecco from Col San Martino, on the Same Hill Since 1700

During an autumn trip we were heading from Conegliano towards Frasca Marchet for a planned meeting. Since we were well ahead of schedule, we stopped in Col San Martino – and tucked between a few old buildings we stumbled upon Silvia's winery.

Or rather, her family. They were getting ready for a birthday party, without Silvia, who was still up on the hill running a tasting.

When we reached the top of the hill, a breathtaking panorama greeted us. And a rather surprised winemaker.

In a restaurant where nearly a hundred different proseccos lined the wall shelves, we spotted the label. We didn't know what it meant – and tracking it down was part of what drove us there. Not that we needed much convincing to go tasting.

In their words

"Our wines are produced exclusively on the surrounding hills and they are the result of a mostly manual farming. We only use grapes from our own production."
