If we had to pick a favourite prosecco brand, it would be Borgo Antico.

But how did it all start? In the summer of 2024, we visited Conegliano for the first time. One afternoon we wandered into a random shop that happened to sell prosecco. The selection was enormous, but we ended up picking – among others – a Borgo Antico Extra Dry. We opened it at a weekend brunch back home, and I still remember: every single guest (15+) loved it. From that moment on, we had a secret favourite. Our second encounter was just as spontaneous. After Christmas we visited the Prosecco Hills. The usual routine: breakfast, then up into the hills – and there was this small town, more of a village really, that caught our eye. Our method in situations like this: pick a winery that looks good from the hilltop, then knock on the door. That's exactly how we found Borgo Antico. Google said they opened at 14:00. We were already standing in the courtyard at 14:05. At 14:15 a window finally opened, and Leonardo, the owner, waved us over: "Ciao, give me 10 minutes, wait for me!" He arrived and welcomed us like old friends.

We've been going back ever since. The story behind the brand is just as lovely: the winery was founded by Leonardo's father in 1973, and Leonardo gradually took it over – he's been part of the business since childhood. Alongside the Italian market, their main export destinations are Japan and the Czech Republic – and now, thanks to us, Hungary too.

Azóta is vissza-visszajárunk hozzá. A márkatörténet is szép: a borászatot Leonardo apukája alapította 1973-ban, aztán szépen lassan átvette tőle a fia, aki gyerekkora óta benne van a szakmában. Az olasz piac mellett Japán és Csehország a fő célpontjuk, de mostmár – általunk – Magyarországra is eljutottak.

In their words

"We farm the slope our grandfather farmed. We pick by hand because that is the only way the wine is the wine."

— Leonardo, Ogliano
